(De) Constructing Patriarchal and Sexist Discourses: Re-Reading Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye and Sula

Patriarchal and sexist discourses have come under scorching attacks from most feminist writers since the advent of modern feminism. This work analyses Toni Morrison’s attempt at deconstructing patriarchal in The Bluest Eye Sula. It adds its voice to ever vibrant conversation on issue patriarchy sexism especially as portrayed works African American female who see their stories twice-told tales - victims both racism dominance. Tony Morrison challenges values which she sees monolithic that hold no ground. She portrays characters whose never-say-die attitudes go a long way towards this system. By showing her male weak, irresponsible, social misfits, dynamic, strong, hardworking individuals whom different families rely for security sustenance, is not only rejecting prevailing our society, well crusade deconstruction.
